Hello my name is Naana and I am going to write a story.

                        The boy who went into the spooky house.

Once upon a time there was a boy who saw a huge house. He went into the house and there was a ghost saying "wwwhhhooo". The boy was so scared he wanted to go home but the door was locked. He said “mommy I want to go home”. So he ran upstairs and when he went upstairs he saw 100000 bats coming from the wardrobe and he screamed. He said “bbaattss” and ran into a room and saw a girl behind him. The girl said “hello what’s your name?” He said “my name is Morgan Brown”. The girl said her name was Sophie Williams. So they got out the room and ran outside the back garden and saw all kind of monsters. There where hairy ones, three legged ones, four eyed ones and hungry ones. So they ran inside and got weapons and went out and killed the all the monsters. They ran back inside and went to the door and ran home. THE END

Hi my name is Nicole. This Sunday I was at beavers. The roof in the beaver den is falling down so beavers was in the school. We played games and sang songs. We had lots of fun.

Hi my name is Kristians. I love money .You can buy anything you want. When it was my birthday I had €95. I was rich but I did not know what to buy?

Hi my name is Morgan. For my CYOS my dad and I made a volcano that explodes and I am going to tell you how to make one too. First you will need some chicken wire and if you don’t know what that is ask your dad. You will also need lots of newspaper, red and cream paint, vinegar, baking soda, red food colouring (optional), a spoon, PVA glue, a bottle the same size of the volcano for the end.
First get the chicken wire and make it into a volcano shape. Then get the PVA glue and put it into a basin. Then rip the newspaper into skinny rectangles. Put about 4 or 5 strips of the newspaper into the basin of PVA glue for about 10 seconds. Then stick them onto the chicken wire. You need to do put a few layers of the newspaper. When you have done this leave it to dry. When it is dry go over it with another layer of PVA glue. Then let that dry.
When that is dry paint the volcano peach or brown. Then paint the top red so it looks like lava. Then cut a hole on the top of the volcano. Get a bottle the same size of the volcano. Stick it in the volcano with the top of the bottle sticking out of the top.
Put the baking soda in the bottle and then put in the red food colouring. When you’re ready pour in some vinegar and sit back and watch it EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!. Well that’s all for me. Morgan, out, peace.

Hey it’s me Kerija again  Oisin Mc Gann came to our school he went to our class and I learned lots about writing. He was very funny. He drew a picture of the old granddad.  I have learned lots of facts about him these are the facts:

He came from Dublin. He spent half his childhood in Drogheda. He published his first books in 2003.  And that’s all the facts I learned.

On my weekends I went to Swords. It was very fun I bought clothes and stuff. Then I came home I went outside and started to play with my friends .And that’s it for today.

Hello my name is Kingsley. It is book week and I dressed up as Bertie in the book of Dirty Bertie Mud. I wore white trousers and a white short over it. I wore goalkeeper gloves. Because I didn’t have an orange jersey I wore a blue jersey.  Oisin McGann came to our school and drew a picture of Mad Granddad in “Mad Granddad’s Robot Garden”. Oisin McGann was funny. Hey there. My name is Holy. For CYOS I made a rocket. Oisin McGann came to our school today and he drew us a picture of Mad Grandad. Yesterday I went to the sweet shop called The Sweet Emporium to get a bubblegum, lollypop and some chocolates. Today I am doing the blog with Jake and I am going first.

I wrote some stories called The Rainbow Key, Prince Zion and Princess Zoe, Teenager Rabbit Life and America and Africa Will Never Mix. Oisin McGann is going to teach us to draw his kind of pictures. Today we were learning about time in Maths and Miss Quinn showed us an old text book and an old maths book both from her Granny’s house. We were also learning about the kinds of clothes people wore a long time ago.

Book Week

Book Week is under way and we are all enjoying the activities.

We have made models from books, book marks and designed book covers.
We have written stories as Gaeilge, in English and written blogs on the school website.
Today we heard 'Goldilocks' in Polish.

We are reading all types of books, fiction and non-fiction books. We've used our tables books to practise and check tables. We read with our reading buddies from Senior Infants. Some of us swopped our books and got different ones to enjoy.

We made up Maths puzzles using stories we know and we then worked out the Maths problems. Here is one. Can you figure it out? If Rapunzel takes 5 minutes to climb up 2m of her tower, how long will it take her to climb up 8m?

We will meet Oisin McGann tomorrow and hear how he writes and illustrates his books. We have studied some of his books and learned somethings about his life.

Friday is dress up as a book character day. I am looking forward to seeing what characters come into school on Friday!! You are welcome to come in on Friday and see what's going on in Room 4........ if you dare and dress up too!

Hi my name is Emma. For my CYOS I played a piece on the piano. It was called the Palace Window. At home I made a model of a man stepping in poop. On Thursday all of the beavers, cubs, scouts and venturers went to Cathal Brugha Barracks. We got a double decker bus to Cathal Brugha Barracks. We met loads of soldiers and I got to sit on an escort motor bike. I also got to get into a tank and hold a gun. We did not get to shoot it but we got to look at them. We saw loads of medals and my great great granddad had one of them. We saw the place where all of the bad soldiers got executed but they don’t do it anymore. Then when I went into the bathroom it was flooded and I slipped and fell. On the way home me, Katie, Éirinn Elisabeth and Rebecca were the only ones singing downstairs and we were louder than the cubs, scouts and venturers altogether.

After that when we got home I went to my friends house because my mum was at work. I had to change into her clothes because my clothes were wet. We played a couple of games and then I had to go home for my dinner. On Saturday me and my friends went to the shop and we got jellies. Then my cousin came over to my house because we both have the same piano teacher and he comes over to my house. I could not go to swimming that night because I was on an antibiotic. My cousin stayed with me and we did a makeover on each other until it was time for her to go home.

On Sunday my second cousins came over from America. They are only five. I thought they were going to be really shy but they were not. We sat down and did their magazines with them. Then we went out to the swing. After that I did arts and crafts with them. We had a Chinese for dinner. That night I did my book mark and bookcover. I came into school and now I’m spending half of the day writing on the blog. Oh and when I was writing about Saturday I made a mistake. I went to the shop after piano lessons.

Hi my name is Eirinn. For my CYOS I sang a song and played the guitar with my friend Nicole. On Saturday I was sick and I had to go to the doctor. After about two hours I felt a lot better and I could have some dinner. We had burgers and chips. On Sunday I went to my Granny and Grandfather’s house and we had our dinner. After dinner I played with my cousin. We played with the tea set. After two hours we went home. My dad made sausage rolls for tea they were yuuuuuuuuuumy. I had two and a half. I spent fifteen minutes drawing. I drew a bird, cat and a fish. After about half an hour I had to go to bed.

Hello my name is Filip. My favourite book is Horrid Henry’s Big Bad Book. I like Horrid Henry books because they are super books for me. Henry is a naughty boy. I am from Poland. I am nine. I like playing XBOX 360. I like football.

Hi my name is Estera. My favourite book is The Yellow Bus and it is written by Brendan Molloy. There is a story in it called Pets In School, The Dogs I Know and Sports At School and a poem called A Busy Day.

What is CYOS???

These days the children are writing their own blogs. They are mentioning CYOS a lot. CYOS is Choose Your Own Subject for homework. The children have done fantastic work. Some have made models, others have prepared reading stories or poems, made pictures, set up science projects and prepared songs and music.

Hello my name is Chloe Fox.  For Bookweek I am making a model of Horrid Henry’s under pants and you can make it too. First you get a cardboard box and look at the end of the box. Cut two holes at the bottom of the box but you might need a grownup to cut the holes. Next part you get two empty toilet rolls and stick them through the holes. Carefully tape them in. Then get a pencil and do your design. When you are happy with it go over it with a black marker and do it carefully so your design is not ruined. Then ask your parents for permission to paint your design and then paint the box. Then get two more empty toilet rolls at the end of the toilet   rolls container cut two holes and stick the leg In then you are done.

Hello my name is Chloe Gilmartin and for bookweek I made a boy and a girl up in a tree and you can make one too. First you get a cardboard box then you cut a side of the box. Then you get blue paint and paint the bottom of the box. Then make a tree and paint it. Make two people. Stick them to the tree. Get a stone paint a leaf or anything that you see in the water. And make sure  you get mum or dad’s permission because you can make a very very big mess and when you are cutting the box you will need a KNIFE and as always, be careful. Chloe Gilmartin. 


Hello. Yesterday I went playing with my friends. I played football, I played chasing and I played then I went home. When I went home Kerry and I were playing video games. And then we were watching T.V and we had to do our maths. So when we did our maths we played our video games and we watched T.V again. And today Kerry and I were still watching T.V. On the weekends we were playing our WII and we stayed late so we got sleepy and sleepy and sleepy and we went like this ’zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’. On Sunday we were eating our breakfast and then we were eating our lunch and then we had supper. We went to a shop and I saw my friend so were talking and talking then we went home. Cian

Hi my name is Dane. For cyos I made a papier -mache shark and you can make one too. You will need wallpaper paste, cardboard, strips of newspaper, paints and a pencil. .First you draw a picture of a shark. Then you get basin and then tear the newspaper into strips. After that you get the paste and the newspaper strips and put it all into the basin. Stir it all and place it on your picture and let it dry. When it is dry, paint it and then it is ready for display. You can draw anything for your papier-mache picture.

Hi my name is David.  For my CYOS I was reading a book and my brother’s birthday is in 18 days. And my mum’s birthday is in 7 days. And I am going to play with my toys when I go home. I am so cool and Antonio is so cool. We go outside being good.  Tomorrow I will go to sleep at ten o’ clock. Today we are going to watch T.V.  007 is so cool and 006 001 002 003 009 008 005 004. We watch James Bond.

Hi my name is Emmanuel. For my CYOS I made a drink that goes fizzy when you shake it. Knew what was in it? My next CYOS was a piece of reading. I read about BODY BURPS. On the page there was a big tummy.

Hi my name is Aminat. For my cyos I drew a picture. It was a dolphin and it was swimming in the sea. It was a pink dolphin. And today 10/2/12 I am going to read one of my favourite books, Crystal the Snow Fairy. It’s a very good book and I like it. You should read it too, it’s good. And the best part is when they go to the hills and get the magic feather and capture the goblin and when the goblin rolls down into a snowball. And rolls on the hill and when the children are playing in the snow and making stuff. The snow gets deeper and deeper.

You put the cotton wool on the top of the bottle that you cut in half. You place the top of the bottle that is cut in half on top of the other half. First I drew a big circle for the daddy panda then I drew a small circle in the big circle in the small circle I drew the mouth and the nose. Then I drew the eyes and I coloured the eyes. Then I started drawing the ears. Then you colour the ears black and that’s how you draw your panda. And I drew a smurf. I just drew a huge circle and drew the nose, mouth, eyes, eyebrow, an ear and a hat. Then I coloured the circle. And I drew a heart. I had to draw a huge heart and I drew fire on the heart. I woke up in the morning to get a cup of tea
But when I looked in the mirror I didn’t see me.
I saw another girl with spots all on her face.
"Oh, no" I said aloud, "I look like disgrace.
I might have caught the chickenpox.
I might have caught the measles.
I might have caught a sickness to look more like a weasel".
Then my Mum came down all cross and said with a frown.
"Get back into bed you look like a clown".

Hi my name is Victoria for cyos I am making a foam maker it is very easy to make  first you get a bottle and cut the bottom off and get a old cloth and cut make sure that you’ve got some of the cloth is sticking out then get an elastic band and rap it round the cloth that is sticking out  then get soap and put it in a cup and get water and put it in a cup. Then last but not least dip the bottle with the side where the cloth is blocking the open bottle side and blow at the other side and as you can see foam is coming out.
