Fruit salad by Jonathon

We had a fruit salad party yesterday.
First we washed our hands

Then we cleaned the table.

Then we set the table.

We pealed and cut the banana.

We pealed the skin off the orange and broke it into pieces.

Then we cut some apple.

We put some yogurt on the fruit salad.

Then we ate the fruit salad.

Yummy!

When we were finished we put the bowls and cups and knives in the dishwasher.

Deadliest sea animals

Deadliest sea animals
By
Aaron Murphy

The  blue  ringed  octopus  is  the  most  poisonous  sea  animal  in  the  world.   it   glows  to  tell   you   to  back   away.   It   hides   under  rocks.

The stonefish is a fish that can stay out of the water for 24 hours. It stays in a little tiny pool and waits until the sea comes in and it starts feeding. It camouflages likes a stone and you might stand on it. It has a spike on the top of its head and it sticks into when you step on it and it shoots out the poison into your blood and if you panic you might be dead.

A lionfish is very colourful. It can sting fish and it is really really poisonous. It can sting sharks.
The box jellyfish kills more people than sharks. The big tentacles can sting you and you die very quickly. Beaches can get shut down because of box jelly fish in the sea in Australia.
The puffer-fish is a fish that puffs up with big spikes when it is scared. If you get hit by one of the spikes you get poisoned.

Spotted Stingrays have a poisonous spike on their tail. It puts poison into its prey and eats it.

The world’s most poisonous snake is found in the sea. It is more poisonous than snakes that live on land.

In the garden

The peas are growing. I watered them. They are getting taller. They are growing up the frame. We have lots of plants in our garden. It is like a jungle. We have mint and I smelled it. We have rhubarb and I pulled it out. I cut off the leaf and the bottom part. I washed my hands and the rhubarb stalk. Then I cut it in pieces. I tasted it and I didn't like it. It is too bitter. We put some sugar on it and I still didn't like it.

Evan's story

The Best Holiday
Me and my brother Connor and my mam and dad and Erin and Sarah went to Lanzarote on a Ryanair plane. Dara and Aoife stayed with my cousins.
We went for 7 days.
We lived in a hotel. We got to play on the go karts and then we swam in the pool.
We got to go to a water park.
My favourite ride was the roller coaster. It was too fast and my cheeks were shaking. It was so scary. My mam was laughing. We went on a smaller roller coaster and got whacked on the face by a branch.
I really liked Lanzarote. It is a very warm place. I wore shorts all day.
My dad came home first and then we came home.

growing the pea plants

growing the pea plants

We got pea seeds from the innocent grow and sow project. We planted some and gave the rest to Ms Bates' Senior Infants. We gave the cress seeds to Ms Murphy's Junior Infants.

First we planted the seeds in the cups

Then we watered the seeds and put them in the sun.

We watered the plants and kept them inside from the cold.

We planted them in our garden and water them every day.

A poem and a story from Martin

Martin has written a poem and a story. He hopes you enjoy them

THE CREATURE
by Martin

The boy was not scared.
He hoped he would be spared.
Because there was no one to help him.
The creature was a bit dim.
The creature gave him a present.
It was a pet pheasant.
The boy felt relieved.
And called his new pet Eve

To the Rescue in Rush!
By Martin
28.1.13

Martin and Wictoria lived in Rush with their dad who worked as a coastguard. One summer’s day the children were helping their dad out and keeping an eye on what was going on out at sea. Martin was looking through his binoculars when suddenly he shouted, “Dad-I think a climber’s in trouble on the cliffs! I can see someone on a ledge halfway down. He’s waving his arms and shouting. He looks like he is struggling to stand up.” Dad took one look and said “this looks serious” and grabbed his phone from his pocket.

He phoned for some special coast guards. They came as fast as they could. It was a bit harder than they thought because his grip was loose. It took 3 minutes for the special coastguards to get ready, then…..they went down. They told the man not to move.

They took the rope with them to tie it over the man’s back. It took them 6 minutes to rescue the man. The man said that his name was Tom, and that he was there to watch the sea because he wanted to go fishing next day but then he slipped.

The special guards said that in a future when he going to watch the sea he must take better care.
