More Reading Skills

We learned another skill to understand what we are reading: visualisation.
We listened to a part of a story.

We drew the image in our minds of the story.

We discussed with our friends what we thought the story was about and
we drew that image in our minds.

Then we listened to more of the story and drew our final image of the story.

Finally we told our classmates the story using the images we drew.

Everyone understood the story. We will practise this skill again.

Emma and Kayla were her helpers.
 The soup was yummy.

The Dubs come to the school

Reading Skills

We have been learning some strategies to help us understand what we are reading. One way is to use the pictures and text to predict what will happen next. We practised this with our classmates.

Halloween

We made Halloween stories with our reading buddies.

We cut out the pictures and put them in order.

We then finished the story.
What do you think happened?

Do you like our Halloween paintings?

We dressed up on the day before the Halloween break.
It was too scary altogether!

Hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween.

Stone Age Life

We studies the Stone Age people recently.
We learned how they made their homes and then made models of their homes.

We discovered how the Stone Age people made their weapons and then made some of our own.

We discovered how they made paint for their pictures using berries and plants. We made paint using raspberries, strawberries and fushia flowers and made some pictures with this paint. Do you like them?

MATHS TRAIL FRIDAY

We have been studying shapes, lines and angles.

Then we went into the garden to look around.

We used plumb lines to check and see if lines are vertical or diagional.

We saw vertical and horizontal lines, circles, triangles and right angles.

Now here is a challenge for you!
How many rectangles do you see in the two windows?
Look carefully and count them all!

Reading Buddies

Every Thursday the children from Ms Bates' class join us for reading.

We met our buddies for the first time this week.

We read for the little children and
 they read for us.

We all enjoyed reading.
